The symbiosis between nature and terroir as well as observing the phases of the moon are the most important factors for Thomas Strohmaier in creating interesting and unique wines. The estate's aromatic varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Schilcher and Gelber Muskateller grow on slate-gneiss primary rock soils and mature into multi-faceted and elegant wines.
The grapes of the Strohmaier winery grow in five individual vineyards, starting at Schloss Limberg south of Schwanberg and along the Schilcher Wine Route south to Aibl near Eibiswald. All sites face southwest. The different slope inclinations and geological characteristics are decisive for the varieties and ultimately also for the wines of the individual vineyards. "If you do everything right in the vineyard and the grapes are top quality, the path to a top wine is paved," says the likeable winemaker Thomas Strohmaier.
