Tasting Notes
Medium carmine garnet, ochre reflections, broad brightening on the rim. It was clear as soon as it was opened: this is a stroke of luck from a top bottle; perfect cork (for seventy years), good level, a beguiling, inviting bouquet as soon as it was decanted. Ripe forest fruit, tobacco nuances, black truffles, but also floral aromas, a spectrum of maturity that only Haut-Brion shows thanks to its terroir. Silky and fresh on the palate, almost light-footed, juicy-sweet fruit combined with fine tobacco notes, elegant tannins still give plenty of grip, mineral and persistent. Wines like this are the reason for Bordeaux's worldwide reputation, together with Lafite-Rotschild the best wine from this vintage. (12/2023, drink - 2050).
