Tasting Notes
Medium brick red, ochre reflexes, broad watery rim. Clean ripe bouquet, delicate plum, herbs, tobacco nuances, forest floor, earthy savouriness, mushroom aromas, touch of milk caramel, very slight red fruit nuances. Juicy, hints of red cherry, silky texture, lively acidity, gently nutty, mineral-salty finish, fine savoury aftertaste with subtle umami touch, immensely youthful overall, still fruity-sweet and very long lasting. (2018).
More about the tasting »World Champions: Château Margaux«A special year for Margaux with a great hot summer and perfect harvest conditions. The harvest began on September 24th and the quality was great, the quantities huge: the records speak of the equivalent of 27,000 cases; it would take until 1982 before this could be achieved again. Medium brick red, ochre reflections, broad water rim. Clean, ripe bouquet, delicate notes of plums, herbs, tobacco nuances, forest floor, earthy savouriness, hints of mushrooms, light milk caramel, very subtle red fruit nuances. Juicy on the palate, hints of red cherry, silky texture, lively acidity, mildly nutty, mineral and salty in the finish, fine spice in the aftertaste. Extremely youthful overall impression, subtle umami touch in the finish, still fruity and very long-lasting. The bottle was tested and re-corked at the Château in the 1980s, which was one of the reasons for its great condition.
